Der Schriftsteller tobt über ihre Untreue, ergeht sich in wilden Beschimpfungen – die Vorwürfe reichen von „Vorstadtflitscherl" und „Komödiantenhure" bis zur „verdorbensten Kreatur der Welt" – und sogar sadistischen Anwandlungen.
Johannes Sachslehner rückt in seiner detaillierten biografischen Studie das Schicksal dieser Frauen in den Mittelpunkt und zeigt, dass sich hinter der sanften literarischen Verklärung in Schnitzlers berühmten Texten eine oftmals erschreckende Realität offenbart.
